The Pioneer Year 7 Leavers’ Party

Year 7 class at a water fountain bridge

Our Year Seven Kampala Class (P.7) which is also our first candidate class in Ivory International Schools, had their leavers’ party on Friday 28th October 2022 at Nican Resort Lweza Entebbe road. It was a colourful day enjoyed by everyone. It should be noted that some of these candidates are also our pioneer pupils who started with Ivory International Schools in Year 5 Johannesburg (P.5) in 2019 when it was rolled into operation. Needless to say, everyone from administration, teachers, parents and community are eagerly having their eyes at this class.

Back to the party, speeches, dancing, miming, swimming, eating, drinking, and cake cutting are some of the activities that featured the day.

The party started by self-introduction where the candidates talked about themselves, what they will never forget about Ivory International Schools, their career ambitions and their schools of first choice. It was observed that this class has a spirit of togetherness and solidarity besides the competition among themselves. According to their speeches, this competition seemed to be a health one. They are not envious and selfish, they are all willing to share and help one another. Thumbs up to the class teacher. In their speeches most of them confessed that they came with very poor grades but by the time of the party, they had improved.

On behalf of the entire Year 7 class, the class monitor Amutuhaire Noah and Nagawa Ruth the class monitress thanked the administration for organizing the party and organizing it in such a nice place – Nican Resort. They thanked the parents and the teachers for the support and the trust they put into them and promised to work hard for the best grades.

In his speech, the class teacher Mr. Kawooya Stephen expressed a lot of joy that the year was ending in a joyous way. He added that the year 2022 started in a very somber mood after Covid-19 lockdown with everyone worried and not sure whether the government was not going to come up with another lockdown. He also thanked God for providence, the directors, staff and the parents for the support and he called upon for more.

He encouraged the candidates to keep intact with their teachers the more especially during this time when they are approaching the exams and to stay strong through the PLE examinations because the papers they have been writing are not different from those of PLE. He concluded by wishing them success in the their PLE examinations.

The head teacher Ms. Nabulya Margaret congratulated the candidates upon reaching this day, and encouraged them not to relax but to multiply the efforts until after 9th of November when PLE will be completed.

She urged them to keep God at the forefront of everything they do, and to keep disciplined if they are to become whatever they wanted to become in future. “I don’t want girls to come back when the shape has changed. Don’t invite me for your wedding after 2 years, after 1 year. I will not come. I expect you to be in school. I expect you to call me if it’s a wedding, after, I can say at least 8 years”, part of her speech said. He thanked the class teacher for driving and grooming the Year 7 class and also concluded by wishing them success.

The day was culminated in a barbeque dinner at 7:30pm.
